Begin Again (this time for the last time)

Today is the official day for me to hit the proverbial “reset button” on my weight-loss. For the past 5 months I’ve been going to Weight Watchers, and have just been going through the motions. Though I’ve managed to lose 8 pounds in that time, I can’t help but wonder how far I could have been if I would have been a little more serious about this portion of my weight-loss journey.

It’s not easy to admit to myself (and the entire world), that I’ve done a half-ass job on anything, especially something related to my well-being. Things get even more difficult when I reflect on my past successes and compare them with where I am today. Just over two years ago, I’d lost 30 pounds and had made some great lifestyle changes. I loved the person I’d become and was committed to getting the weight off-FOR GOOD. Things were going great…until I applied to Business School and wasn’t accepted. Over time, old habits began to creep up, and eventually emotional eating and I rekindled a painful flame…a flame that I’ve been struggling to put out ever since.

But today my friends, is a new day. Even though I struggle with letting go of my past, I’ve decided to take what I’ve learned (both good and bad), and get back in the ring to fight for my life. I pray that this blog will inspire you to do the same.

Weight Watchers update:

• Today’s weigh in: lost 1.2 lbs (since my last weigh in on 9/24).

• Total weight loss to date: 8.0 lbs

• Daily points target: 40

Goals for the week:

• To journal/track everything I eat, every day

• To exercise at least twice

*extra credit: write another Blog post this week =)

  1. I loved WW, but I didn't like the price. lol I'm a Capricorn so I was SUPER competitive and would work so hard just to get a good number during weigh in so I could hear the ladies say "Good job!" Right? Like I was in kindergarten. I worked for stickers and charms. lol But that $50 price tag was killing me! Good luck though! I think it's a great program!

    1. LOL @ Stickers and charms! Yeah it can be a bit steep. I've been off and on WW for years, and there are times when I need the added support and accountability, so I bite the bullet. There have been other times when I don't need the meetings and I switched to the online version which is much cheaper (I think it was $15-$18/mo). I like the price flexibility, and I love the program overall...it definitely works if you work it, lol.

  2. I keep hearing about how great WW is. I hope that it is successful for you. I know I didn't lose weight until I became highly motivated. If I had started at any other time, I would've fell off the wagon a couple of times. Lifestyle changes aren't easy but they're well worth it. :)

    1. Thanks! Yes, I really think WW is the best weight loss program because it teaches you how to eat "regular" foods in moderation as well as how to make healthy lifestyle adjustments. I've tried other programs, and for me WW is the best.

  4. Good for you Jennifer! Several years ago I lost 20 pounds. I found the key to be drinking a lot of water and regular exercise. Ironically, my class blog is all about food!

  5. Thanks for reading Michelle. Yes, drinking water can be a HUGE challenge for me. Although, I found that if I add lemon juice, I can drink it much easier. I generally fill up a water bottle and drink it at work, so I make sure I get it in.

I just read your blog and YOWZA does that look good. But, anytime you complete a marathon, you totally deserve to eat whatever you want right, lol =)
